History

R ‘n B Foods was started in 2005. For years Roger and Barbara Rutherford dreamed of owning their our own business. As good as that idea sounded, they both worked full-time jobs and couldn't find the time to begin such a venture let alone choose what business to start.

Then in 2003 Barbara was laid-off and worked her last day on December 31st (Happy New Year to us!!). Soon afterwards they found out Barbara was pregnant which made the search for a permanent job more difficult. On November 24, 2004 their son Matthew was born. They were ecstatic yet a little scared but easily fell into the roles of mommy and daddy.

During a late-night feeding, Roger and Barbara revisited the idea of starting a small business. "We thought maybe it was a good time to put the wheels in motion and to begin laying the groundwork for “The Business”" as it was called then. After several more discussions between us and with our families, we decided to give it a go. With little money and a small idea here we are! It's been quite a journey with many starts and stops along the way but we persevered and turned our little dream into reality.

Roger and Barbara love to cook and experiment in the kitchen. "He's an adventurous cook and loves to “gourmet” as I call it. For years we treated our friends and family to our concoctions – OK, they were our guinea pigs but they didn't know that at the time! Our hot sauce and barbeque sauce were a major hit and many people thought we should consider bottling and selling them. As crazy as it seemed it is what started us down the road into the food business." Says Barbara Rutherford

So, what does R ‘n B Foods do?

As our name suggests, we are a food business. We specialize in sauces, seasonings, marinades, and rubs. All our products are our own creations. Lately, we have also added to our portfolio by manufacturing some of the most delectable sauces and dressings for some of the finest restaurants in Eastern Ontario. We also believe in the local economy, so we try to utilize and source from as many local farmers for ingredients to go in all of our products. We also do our best to keep our products chemical and artificial free. We further only purchase our containers from North American manufacturers that can be reused or recycled to reduce the waste going in our landfills. A backwards philosophy in this day and age, but it works for us and our clients. This philosophy has allowed us to provide an excellent product for our clients that they can enjoy, trust and feel good about helping the community and environment.

R'n B Foods is committed to creating worldly flavours that can truly only come from the Ottawa valley and are distinct to the regional culture of the valley. Creating products that are home made at our house for yours.
